Concrete Sunrise is the third studio album by Copenhagen-based ambient post-rock project A Reason To Travel. The album loosely continues the story of its predecessor Kingdom and shines its light onto the remnants of a once-great city that fell victim to the turmoils of war. Enter the wastes of deserted buildings, ruins, and lifeless streets and explore them once more or maybe forever to the backdrop of rich ambient, drone, and post-rock sounds and textures.
Artwork by Gianluca Cardinale.
Press excerpts:
"Ambient post-rock is a beautiful thing when executed as well as it is on Concrete Sunrise. You can wander through its hypnotic and transient labyrinths with a fine-tooth comb, trying to decipher all rhyme and meaning to it, or you can amble barefoot, with your head to the sky, letting the waves of music wash over you, putting your mind in a place of utter calm and peace" - The Smashing Skull Sessions (smashingskullsessions.fireside.fm/articles/concrete?fbclid=IwAR3MB1nCwXSSFNo496kbJzPa5jzRQzjciYRbey4PuhKJWjtrcJ7f_KPIY2M)
"A Reason To Travel was one of those underground tips for people who already have fallen in love with Post-Rock many, many moons ago, but still search a brand new song to fan the flames of pure content. And on the upcoming album we find that this project makes the next step out of the underground’s shadow and into the light!" - Veil Of Sound (veilofsound.com/2023/01/29/Song_premiere-A_Reason_To_Travel.html)
- 4NDREAS.Postrock (www.facebook.com/4NDREAS.Postrock)
"While listening to the album, I closed my eyes and imagined that I was standing somewhere in the middle of a meadow and listening to nature. I think real listeners of this music know what I'm talking about because the music is fantastic and every flow takes you to a third-world dimension. The entire album is perfectly made and mixed with the idea and desire to create this type of music in mind. I admit that Concrete Sunrise is one of the best albums in the post-rock genre in the last year. Post Black Metal Albums (www.facebook.com/PostBlackMetalAlbums)

at face value. The music lets the listener travel into cinematic and emotional scenarios, exploring various different musical stylistics of ambient and post-rock along the way....more
One, if not the inspiration for all the music I make. Blissful yet abrasive, simple yet complex - I can't think of a record that moves me emotionally like this one does - every time. A Reason To Travel
The man, the myth, the legend - Ban Sharp's latest release "Solitude" was a brilliant release that made the cold autumn and winter bearable, but I still find my myself going back to "Subsume" . A Reason To Travel
We can debate GY!BE records all day, but "Asunder.." has a special place in my heart, especially for delivering a heaviness that the other records rarely bring. A Reason To Travel
